Wishing you all the happy things this very special holiday
December marks the end of our 20th anniversary year
and I would like to take a moment to review the year and said
thanks to all who help make the PGRS the club that it is. No one
person can do it all. To start off in January we did the
Greenberg Train show, I would like to say thank you Jackie Magri
for all her hard work with the people from the Greenberg Train
and Toy show and trying to develop a good working relationship
February we went out to St. Thomas Episcopal Church in
Canonsburg, for our annual planning meeting. Thank you to Ed and
Ann Celento for hosting this meeting. Dave Bodnar also gave a
talk on 3D printers and what they can and can’t do. Dave
demonstrated his 3D printer and showed us how these amazing new
machines work. Thank you Dave for this very interesting talk and
March we went out to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mc Donald
to Brainstorm ideas for putting sound in two cars for shows and
adding some animations to our layout. Thank you to Gene and
Caryll Linck for hosting this meeting Dave Bodnar gave a talk on
using our Multi-tester that we had received at the Christmas
dinner, Thank you Dave.
April we went out to Kemmerer’s home to see their house after
someone parked his car in the living room the day before
Thanksgiving. We had a covered dish dinner and a plant swap.
Thank you, Clark and Alice for hosting this meeting and your
home looks great after all the work. But Clark, some of
our members think you had that man park his car in the living
room just so you wouldn’t have to paint it for Alice.
May we went out to the Masonic Lodge in Beallsville for our
second show for the year this was for The National Road
Festival. Thank you to Donald Goodwin for being our host for
this show, the lodge is Don's home lodge, and they are asking us
to come back next year
June we went out to the Hartman’s home for a picnic and to help
Al with his layout and do some repairs. When we got their Al had
most of the work done so the biggest job we had was to eat all
the food. Dave Bodnar gave a talk on his latest idea for
lighting some of building when we do a show. Thank you Allen and
Shirley for hosting our June meeting, and special thank you to
Al for all his help in running the 50/50raffle at most of the
July meeting was cancelled. We had hoped to do the
Greenburg train show and we had our request turned down. The
backup plan was to take a ride on the “T” from South Hills
Village to the Science Center, but we only had two of our member
that could make it the day we picked for the ride. We needed 15
or more to get a group rate at the Science Center. There were a
lot of our members who said they would like to do this and asked
if we could reschedule it.
August we went out to the Goodwin’s for the P.G.R.S. Family
picnic. The club supplied the hot dogs , hamburgers , and
drinks. We asked our members to bring the side dishes for the
picnic. Thank you Donald and Debra for hosting the family
picnic, you did a fantastic job.
September was our 2 day bus/train out to Lancaster. The
high lights of the trip were the play “Moses”, a visit to the
Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and a ride the Strasburg
Railroad. We got a bonus as we got to see Thomas the Tank
engine and Percy.
October we went out to the Weimer home for a Wine and Cheese
tasting, and to see their layout. Alycefaye Stewart gave a
demonstration on using a 3D pen and a talked on building the
Queen City Hotel and B&O RR. Station. Thank you Alycefaye
for your great talk and demonstration.. Thank you John and Tina
for hosting this meeting, and for doing the mailing for the 20th
Anniversary dinner/ Christmas banquet, and Annual dues.
October was a very busy month for the PGRS. We did out
third train show for the year out at the Castle Shannon
Volunteer Fire Department. I would like to say thank you to our
members who have came out and helped with all three of our show.
We get most of our new member for the club when we do a show.
November we went out the Banks home to see Ed's layout; this was
the backup plan for not doing the Greenburg train show. Thank
you Ed for hosting this meeting, and for all the good food.
In attendance for the November meeting were Jack Pyle, Sandy
Hubert, Jan Vogt, Ann& Ed Celento, Allan & Shirley Hartman, Dave
& Lois Bodnar, John & Tina Weimer, Dale & Julie Stoughton, Mark
Demyan, Bruce & Reggie Watkins, Alycefaye Stewart, Clark

the layouts. Congratulations to Mark Demyan the lucky winner of
the 50/50 raffle, and a special thank you to Mark for donating
his winnings back to the club.
