More on Big Boy!

The March 2014 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman shows the locomotive at Covina Ca. en route to the Union Pacific shops. To judge the size of this monster there is a shot of # 4014 at the Covina passenger station. The roof of the platform sheds are even with the horizontal center line of
4014's smoke box front.!!

Again , stay tuned.

From the other end of our nation's rail network, I have come across an excellent publication called the Keystone. This is the quarterly publication of
the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical and Historical Society.

This magazine is sometimes sold at local hobby shops and to members of the Society ( PRRT&HS, PO Box 54 Bryn Mawr, Pa 19010-0054)

The current issue contains articles in line from Pittsburgh to St. Louis and along the North bank of the Allegheny River.

I thought I had exhausted the subject of restored steam engines until I got the May issue of Trains Magazine. The main article is on the restoration of Southern Ry  2 8 2  # 4501. Its worth the trip!  4501 ran through Pittsburgh several years ago on what is now the W&LE.

A final piece of trivia comes from the April 4thpage of my B&O calendar. This is an old timetable ad where a large rabbit indicates that the Easter Bunny always comes to town on the Baltimore And Ohio.
