On November 11th,
at 11:00 AM local time, every train on the CPR system in the US
and Canada will come to a stop and observe a minute of silence
followed by one whistle blast for those who served in the
military. (Per Trains Magazine)
It’s been a long
time and lot of work, but the PGRS will be part of the November
9 & 10 Greenberg’s Great Train and Toy Show at the Monroeville
Convention Center. We will have a 16’ X 24’ layout. I would
like to say a big THANK YOU to Jackie Magri for all her
work with the Greenberg people. My hope is that this show will
be of one of the club's very best shows and that it starts a
new working relationship with the Greenberg people. Hopefully
the club will be able to do further Greenberg Train Shows.
John Weimer has
worked up a 16’ X 24”track plan for this show and sent it out to
members. It is like the one we did for the Trolley Museum in
June with some small changes. It includes a list of what members
are bringing for the show. People will be able to walk the whole
way around the display so some buildings will have to face the
other side so that the display will look good from all sides.
Our schedule is
as follows: set-up Friday, November 8th, at 2:00 PM
until done, no later than 7:00. This should not be a problem
as we can set up in two to three hours; the show is Saturday,
November 9th, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; the show continues
Sunday, November 10th, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; we tear
down right after the show Sunday until done. Any of our members
who would like to bring something to be part of the show please
feel free to bring the items and let John know so that he can
make it part of his plan. Please if you have volunteered to help
at our October meeting we are counting on your help.
Thank you to the
Gettemys for hosting our October meeting for a fall celebration.
Carol, your pulled beef sandwiches were delicious. I made a pig
of myself and had two. Bob, it’s always fun to see all your
trains running. You have a great collection. Thank you again,
Bob and Carol, for a great time. (Please see photos)
At our meeting
we went over some of the details for the PGRS 2019 Christmas
party scheduled for December 7th at Palmieri’s
Restaurant, 951 Old Frankstown Road, Plum, Pa. 15239. The party
is scheduled to start at 6:00PM with appetizers; dinner is at
7:00PM. The cost per person is $30. This includes appetizers,
dinner, tips, and taxes. It does not include cash bar costs.
(Please mark your calendar to save the date for our party.)
Thank you to Clark Kemmerer and Alice Angelo for all the work
they have done on make the arrangements for the party.
As the end of
another year is coming we’re starting to look for ideas, new and
old, and for members who would like to volunteer to host one of
the monthly meetings. If you have a special talent, and would
like to share it with the group, or need help with your layout,
please let me know and we can put you on the schedule. The
club can lend a hand or hear about your talent.
