One stop viewing of all gauges and periods from “G” to “N” are
displayed by the LHMRR Club in a large unique room. As you enter the
train room on the “G” layout a working mine shaft, a crane moving
lumber around the yard and a roller mill sifting gravel into sizes
to be used as ballast on the different gauge lines can be viewed. A
selected compression of the line from Pittsburg (before the h) to
Somerset through the Allegheny tunnel is just another part of the
beginning of this tour. Landscapes, a circus, towns and overhead
train hauling 20+ cars attract your attention. BUT, the central
attraction is a functioning COG Railway copied from the one at Mt.
Washington in New Hampshire. The panoramic observation deck with its
floor to ceiling windows has been faithfully miniaturized to scale
at the top of the summit. This is just a sampling of the first one
third of the area’s layouts. You will need to attend the event /
tour on July 20th at 1:00 for the guided tour of the club
member’s creative train ideas. Whether you are a history buff, a
R.R. buff or both, you will be pleased. Parking is FREE on the level
street and there are parking lots within a block. A handicap ramp
provides access to the entrance and trains.
