In last month’s newsletter I said the PGRS will be very busy in
the next couple months. I’m writing this just before departing
on our trip to Ohio to ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic
Railroad. I’ll have information about the trip and photos in the
September newsletter. On August
7, it’s out to Brownsville to
get ready for the show we’ll be doing for the Monongahela River,
Rail & Transportation Museum, 412 Church Street, Brownsville, Pa
We are planning to set up for the show on
Friday, August 7, at noon.
After we are finished with our display, we’ll be stopping
at Hugo’s restaurant, 687 National Pike, Brownsville, PA 15417
for dinner. The show is
Saturday, August 8, 10: AM to 4:
Sunday ,August 9, noon to 4: PM.
When we do any show we need all the help we can get.
Please look over your schedule and see when you can help and
(412)276-1236 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
me when you can help so at I can start making up a list for the
show. We’ll be raffling off a starter train set at the show to
help raise some money for our new trailer fund. The tickets for
the train set will be $1 each or 7 tickets for $5.
The PGRS annual family picnic is scheduled for
August 15th, noon until???
Miller & Bonnie Adams will be our host for the picnic. The Adams
address is 2580 Grandview Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pa 15235. Miller
& Bonnie will be supplying the hamburgers, hot dog, and buns for
both. They are also supplying the beer, pop, and paper products
for the picnic. The cost of the items donated by the Adams
family for the picnic, Miller wants to be given to our trailer
fund. They are asking members to bring the side dishes for our
meal in the following categories: Q-Z snacks or salad; A-F main
dish (a vegetable); G-P desert. Please use the first letter of
your last name to know what category you fall in. If you have a
favorite dish and it doesn’t fall in the group that you’re in
that’s OK, too. Let Miller and Bonnie know what you will be
bringing, and how many will be attending by
August 12, to give them time to
do the shopping. The Adams phone number is
(412)731-3666 or e-mail email@example.com
Please remember to bring your vest to the meeting so that the
PGRS logo can be put on them. We are trying to get them all in
one place, so that we can get all the logos done at one time.
Please make the checks out to PGRS. The vests or
shirts must be in a bag with name of person and number of pieces
in the bag.
Give embroidered item/ items TO ANY CLUB OFFICER: Keith,
Tina, Don, or Alycefaye. You can get any flat item
embroidered…shirt, summer coat, other vests, etc. If you already
have some type of clothing around the house, and would like to
get the logo placed on it, we can do it. The cost of having
anything that is flat embroidered will be $6.25 plus $1.00 for
digitizing for a total of $7.25 for each item receiving the PGRS
The PGRS is selling advertising on the club box cars. For
one side of the cars is $50 for one year, or both sides of the
car for $100. The cars will be viewed at all of the shows the
club does for one year. The money raised from the ads will
go toward the purchase of a new trailer. If anyone is
interested in buying an ad or know someone please put them in
touch with one of clubs officers.
Please check out Alycefaye's report on the Greenburg train show,
and Mark Demyan's photos of the take down and loading of the
trailer. I would like to say a big thank you to David Bodnar for
making the new reverse loop for the trolley, Alycefaye for the
donation of the new log cabin, Mark Demyan donation of two
circus cars, and John Weimar's donation of an observation car
for passenger train to the club. I would also like to say thank
you to all our members who came out, worked the show, and made
it a big success.
